Alta-Aurelia scores 3 runs in 7th inning to turn scoreless pitcher’s duel into win over Newell-Fonda

Alta-Aurelia scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a scoreless tie as the Warriors blanked Twin Lakes Conference rival Newell-Fonda 3-0 on Monday night in Fonda.

Jordan Wendel and Josh McCormick combined to pitch a three-hit shutout. Wendel went four innings and gave up three hits, walked five and struck out 10. McCormick allowed no hits, walked one and struck out three in three innings of relief.

The Warriors only had two hits in the game. Kale Nelson belted an RBI double and McCormick doubled.
