Intoxicated man reportedly breaks waffle maker, toilet in SL hotel


Police were called to the Buena Vista Inn and Suites at 1726 North Lake Ave. on Wednesday at 2:22 p.m. because of an intoxicated guest damaging motel property.

Police met with staff who said that Mark Dill, 50, of Roseboro, N.C., was staying in room #121 and had damaged a waffle maker in the breakfast room and destroyed the toilet in his guest room.

Police located Dill and arrested him without incident. Dill was charged with two counts of criminal mischief and public intoxication. Dill was booked into the county jail on a $900 bond. Damage to the property is estimated at $250.

No injuries were reported.        

 

Wanted woman jailed


A wanted person was located Tuesday at 1:25 p.m. at the BV County Attorneys’ Office.

Police arrested Elizabeth Buakhai, 20, of Storm Lake, who was wanted on a warrant out of BV County charging her with failure to appear in court in reference to domestic assault, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Buakhai was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and was held without bond.

 

Trespass reported


Police were called to 1017 North Lake Ave. because of a trespass Sunday at 12 p.m.

Police were told that at 1 a.m. Sunday morning, Floriberto Sanchez Deciga, 34, of Storm Lake, entered the reporting party’s residence without permission, looking for someone. The reporting party threatened to call the police and Deciga fled from the residence.

Police located Deciga at 1:30 p.m. at 509 Oneida St., where he was arrested without incident.

Deciga was charged with criminal trespass and was booked into the county jail on a $300 bond.

        

Wanted man arrested on theft, burglary charges


The Sioux City Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday at 2:25 p.m. told Storm Lake Police that Jonathon Carlos Wood, 38, of Sioux Center may be traveling to the lottery office in Storm Lake and that Wood was wanted out of Sioux County on warrants charging him with burglary and theft.

Police located Wood and took him into custody without incident. Wood was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

 

Man arrested on 17-year-old-warrant


Storm Lake Police were told by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona that they had received information from the FBI that Jesus Carlos Soto, 40, may be living and working in Storm Lake.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office,  Soto was wanted on multiple warrants charging him with possession of narcotics for sale and possession of marijuana for sale.The warrants were issued in 1997. Soto was being sought for 17 years.

Police responded to 621 Iowa St. but did not locate Soto. Police then responded to 606 ½ Lake Ave., where police say Soto was working for Denison Dry Wall on a construction job at that location. Police took Soto into custody. Soto was working under the name Ramon Gonzalez Soto. He was booked into the BV County Jail where he was held without bond pending extradition back to Arizona. The incident remains under investigation by the SLPD and additional charges are possible.
