Police find drugs in traffic stop
A vehicle was stopped in the 100 block of Flindt Drive for a traffic violation at 11:55 a.m. Saturday afternoon, where police say they detected the odor of marijuana.
After searching the vehicle, police seized drug paraphernalia and a white powder, believed to be ecstasy. Police arrested Carl Bechtel, 18, of Cherokee and Alan Perry, 19, of Fort Dodge. Both men were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. They were booked into Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 bond each.
Additional charges are pending analysis at the Iowa State DCI Crime Lab.
Wanted man jailed
Police located a wanted person Friday at 3:51 p.m. at 425A West Eighth St.
Martin Guillen, 24, of Storm Lake was arrested on a warrant from BV County requiring him to serve 180 days at the Sheldon Residential Treatment Facility.
The warrant was in connection with an original charge of public intoxication. Guillen was released to the custody of the BV County Sheriff’s Department for transport to Sheldon.
Two BVU students jailed in drug investigation
Police were called to Buena Vista University Saturday at 4:31 p.m. because of a drug investigation. Security reported that two students had smoked marijuana in a dorm room.
Police went to White Hall, room 445 where security staff reported a strong odor of marijuana. Police contacted Evan Ferneau, 18, of Marshalltown and Robert Spencer, 18, of Smithville, Mo. Police seized drug paraphernalia from the room and from a vehicle owned by Spencer. Police arrested Ferneau and Spencer and charged them with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both men were booked into the county jail on a $300 bond.
