Two arrested after traffic stop involving marijuana


Storm Lake Police stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Lake Avenue and C-49 Friday night at 11:30 p.m.

Police say the driver, Patience Braun, 30, of Anther was in possession of marijuana.

In addition, police say Braun possessed multiple packaged bags of marijuana in her vehicle.

Police seized the bags, drug paraphernalia and $1,200 in cash.

Police charged Braun with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, failure to affix a drug tax stamp, possession of drug paraphernalia and no insurance.

She was booked into the county jail on a $10,600 bond.

Police also located in Braun’s vehicle information about a second person who was wanted by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department.

Police say Chad Braun, 37, was located in a Spirit Lake motel.

Storm Lake Police notified Spirit Lake Police, who apprehended Braun on the Plymouth County warrants that charged him with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.         

 

Assault reported at Storm Lake Middle School


An 11-year-old boy allegedly assaulted an adult staff member on a school bus at Storm Lake High School Wednesday morning.

Police charged the minor with assault and he was processed and released pending a court date.

The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court Authority.

 

Wanted man jailed


On Thursday at 7:45 p.m. a Storm Lake Police Officer on patrol observed a wanted person in the 200 block of West Railroad Street.

Police made contact and arrested Howard Young, 24, of Storm Lake, who was wanted on a warrant charging him with violation of probation in reference to a domestic assault.

Young was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 bond.

 

Man reportedly kicks out glass in dorm


Storm Lake Police were called to White Hall on the Buena Vista University campus Friday morning at 1:25 a.m. because of an intoxicated man.

Campus security told police that Kyle Arnold, 20, of Johnston had kicked and damaged a glass dorm at White Hall.

Police took Arnold into custody.

Arnold was charged with criminal mischief and public intoxication.

He was booked into Buena Vista County Jail on a $1,000 bond.

 

Wanted person arrested


A wanted person was located at 1008 Michigan St. Friday night at 10 p.m.

Police located and arrested Teofilo Rodriguez, 33, of Storm Lake, who was wanted out of Cherokee County on a charge of driving while barred.

Rodriguez was booked into the county jail on a $2,000 bond.

 

Late night fight breaks out at restaurant


A fight was reported at La Juanita’s on Lake Avenue at 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Police were told that a patron had allegedly been belligerent inside of the establishment and that the subject’s father had removed him from the bar and left the area.

Police located the suspect in the 700 block of Michigan Street and identified him as Juan Huizar-Manriquez, 18, of Storm Lake.

Huizar-Manriquez was charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

He was booked on a $600 bond.

 

Intoxicated man allegedly knocks on doors at night


Police were called to the 400 block of Superior Street Friday morning at 12:05 a.m. because of an intoxicated male knocking on doors in the neighborhood.

Police located the man, Conrad Petrus, 31, of Storm Lake.

Petrus was arrested and charged with public intoxication.        

Police learned that Petrus was also wanted out of Linn County in connection with two charges, both OWIs.

Petrus was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and was held without bond.

 

Dispute lands three in jail


Police were called to a fight Sunday morning at 12:39 a.m. in the 800 block of East Fifth Street.

Police observed several people in the street. Two men and a woman were engaged in a loud argument and were shouting in the street at the West Fifth Street location.

Police arrested Dion Caldwell, 26 and Denzel Scott, 18, both of Storm Lake, and charged them with disorderly conduct.

Both men were booked into the county jail on a $300 bond.

Police arrested Elizabeth Buakhi, 20, of Storm Lake and charged her with disorderly conduct and public intoxication. She was booked on a $600 bond.

No injuries were reported.

 

Two men charged with disorderly conduct


A disturbance was called in to the Storm Lake Police Department Sunday morning at 2:03 a.m. in the 500 block of Erie Street.

Police located and arrested two men who were allegedly shouting in the street and causing a disturbance.

Josue Reyes-Garcia, 21, and Rodrigo Ramirez, 19, of Storm Lake were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

They were booked into Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 bond each.

 

K-9 unit sent in, uncovers marijuana, smoking devices


Skateboarders were reportedly disturbing residents Sunday night in the 600 block of West Ninth Street.

Police met with one of the skateboarders, Kyle Thelen, 21, of Storm Lake, who lives at 601B West Ninth St.

Police say while speaking to Thelen they observed drug paraphernalia at his apartment.

Police sealed the apartment and obtained a search warrant for the residence.

Police executed the search warrant at 11:30 p.m. with the K-9 unit and seized marijuana, smoking devices and other drug paraphernalia.

Police charged Thelen with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $1,300 bond.
