Forty was the magic number for Alta-Aurelia on Tuesday.

The Warriors coaching staff believed that the first team to score 40 points in the game would win. Fortunately for them, the Warriors were that team as they hit the 40-point mark before Coon Rapids-Bayard and went on to win 53-38 in a Class 1A district semifinal game at Laurens.

Alta-Aurelia, now 19-5, played No. 1 Newell-Fonda   (23-0) in a district final game on Thursday in Manson. The winner plays either Underwood or Ar-We-Va in a substate game on Saturday at Denison.
