Laurens man faces up to 10 years in prison

Found guilty on multiple drug charges

On Monday Mario Neither, 29, of Laurens was sentenced to a term not to exceed five years with the Iowa Department of Corrections after admitting he violated the terms of his probation.

Neither’s admission to violating probation was the result of an arrest in Pocahontas County after law enforcement raided his Laurens home and found marijuana, marijuana cultivation equipment and growing plants on Nov. 15 of 2013.

On Feb. 3 Neither will plead guilty in Pocahontas County to two felony counts of delivery of marijuana, one of which carries an enhanced sentence for being within 1,000 feet of a school.

Neither will be charged with one count of manufacturing a controlled substance, child endangerment and possession of Adderall.

The term of incarceration for Buena Vista County will run concurrently with that of the sentencing from Pocahontas County, resulting in a prison term of up to ten years on all convictions.

Neither lived in Storm Lake when he was originally placed on probation in 2010 after being found guilty of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.
