Police arrest one person in drug bust
The Storm Lake Narcotics Team and K9 Unit executed a search warrant on a residence Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. at a residence located at 711 Highview Drive in connection with the sale of illegal drugs.
Police located and seized a digital scale, packaging materials and drug paraphernalia.
In connection with the investigation, police responded to Dairy Queen in Storm Lake and arrested Israel Barron-Gomez, 18, of Storm Lake, who resides at the Highview Drive address.
Police allege that Barron-Gomez had previously sold marijuana to another person.
Storm Lake Police charged Barron-Gomez with delivery of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
Wanted man jailed
Police were called to 721C West Ninth St. because of a wanted person being located Friday morning.
Police located and arrested Roger Crawford, 60, of Storm Lake who was wanted on a warrant charging him with probation violation reference public intoxication.
Crawford was processed by law enforcement and transported to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center where he was admitted for a pre-existing medical condition.
A new court date was issued.
Wanted woman arrested
On Friday at 11:02 a.m. police were called to 207 Geneseo St. #3 in reference to locating a wanted person.
Police located and arrested Demitra Parker-White, 28, of Storm Lake.
Parker-White was wanted on a warrant charging her in connection with the offense of OWI.
She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and was held without bond.
Wanted man jailed
On Friday night at 11:40 p.m. police were called to the Storm Lake Tyson plant because of a wanted person being located.
Police located and arrested Joseph Etse, 24, of Storm Lake, who was wanted on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in court in reference to no proof of insurance.
Etse was booked on a $764.50 bond.
Police arrest SL woman on warrant
Sunday night police were called at 7:49 p.m. to 304 Superior St. because of a wanted person being located.
Police located and arrested Rose Neior, 29, of Storm Lake.
Neior was wanted on a warrant charging her with failure to appear and pay fines in reference to driving while suspended.
Neior was booked into the county jail on a $2,123.32 bond.
Alta man, SL teen both charged with assault
On Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. police took a report of an alleged assault which occurred at 728 Linden Lane.
Police were told that Marvin Calderon, 38, of Alta had inappropriately touched a 17-year-old female at the residence.
After that alleged incident the girl’s boyfriend, identified as a 17-year-old male of Storm Lake, went to the Linden Lane address and assaulted Calderon by striking him several times.
Calderon then left the residence.
On Thursday morning at 10 a.m. police arrested Calderon when he arrived at the Storm Lake Police Station.
Police charged him with assault and he was booked on $300 bond.
On Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. police charged the 17-year-old male with assault and he was processed and released to a parent pending a Juvenile Court Date.
Both the Iowa Department of Human Services and CAASA were notified in connection with the investigation.
Two arrested in connection with food stamp use
On Friday at 6:40 p.m. police made two arrests in connection with an investigation that alleges fraudulent use of an EBT (food stamps) card.
Police allege that Shannon Andrews, 21, of Storm Lake, gave her EBT food stamp card to Eric Spratt, 22, of Storm Lake in order for Spratt to sell the card for cash to a third party.
Police further allege that Spratt sold the card for $60 cash to a third party.
The card was eventually used by a third party at the Storm Lake Walmart to purchase over $100 in merchandise.
On Friday night after an investigation, police arrested both Andrews and Spratt at their residence located at 205 West Sixth St. #8.
Both were charged with fraudulent practice and they were each booked on a $300 bond.
SL man cited for assaulting two people
At 7 p.m. Friday night, police were called to 1726 East Milwaukee Ave. #10 because of a disturbance in progress.
Police were told that Rolando Garcia, 27, of Storm Lake came to the residence of his estranged wife and allegedly engaged in an argument, at which time he physically assaulted the 22-year-old female.
Garcia then reportedly further physically assaulted a 17-year-old male in the apartment.
Officers apprehended Garcia in the parking lot of the apartment complex and following an investigation, charged Garcia with domestic assault and assault.
He was booked into Buena Vista County Jail and was held without bond.
No injuries were reported.
Drugs seized in traffic stop
A Storm Lake Police Officer conducted a traffic stop at Lake Avenue and West Eighth Street Friday night at 11:55 p.m.
Police contacted the driver, Ismael Medina Reyes, 19, of Storm Lake. Police detected the odor of marijuana coming from Reyes’ vehicle.
The SLPD K9 Unit, after checking the vehicle, indicated that illegal drugs were in the vehicle.
Police searched the vehicle and located and seized marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Police arrested Reyes and charged him with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $1,000 bond.
Underage drinker arrested at night club
Storm Lake Police conducted a bar check at Malarky’s Night Club Sunday morning.
Police observed a patron provide alcohol to an underage patron in the club.
Police took Bianca Nagel, 20, of Fairmont, Minn., into custody, and charged her with possession of alcohol.
Police further arrested Ethan Eisenbacher, 22, of Fairmont, Minn., and charged him with supplying alcohol to a minor.
He was booked into the county jail on a $1,000 bond.
Woman reportedly yells, flails arms in restaurant
On Sunday morning at 2:23 a.m. police conducted a business check at La Juanita’s on Lake Avenue when they observed a disturbance.
Police say they observed a woman yelling and flailing her arms towards another patron in the business.
Police intervened and took the woman into custody, identifying her as Katoya Jepson, 31, of Storm Lake.
According to police, Jepson was arguing with another patron, at which time the argument escalated and police intervened.
Police charged Jepson with disorderly conduct.
She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 bond.
