SL can’t over slow start in setback

Yach Deng scored 29 points, but it wasn’t enough as Storm Lake couldn’t recover from an early deficit as the Tornadoes fell to Spirit Lake 73-53 in a Lakes Conference game on Tuesday at Spirit Lake.

Spirit Lake led 24-7 in the first quarter before Storm Lake went on an 11-0 run to pull within 24-18.

The Indians answered with a 1-0 spurt of their own and managed to grab a 36-26 lead at halftime.

Spirit Lake led 44-36 when it closed the third quarter on a  10-2 surge to hold a 54-38 lead going into the fourth quarter.
