Quintero hit with assault, meth raps
A Storm Lake man accused of beating his brother bloody became the 19th person to be swept up on drug charges as part of the police department’s “Winter Wrap-Up.”
Police were called to 117 East Railroad St. #3 at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday because of a disturbance in progress.
Officers were told that a person in the apartment was attempting to hurt another individual. Police found a man on the sidewalk in front of the apartment complex bleeding from his face.
Witnesses say that Sergio Quintero, 25, of Storm Lake had allegedly physically assaulted his brother, threatened to kill him and damaged property in the apartment.
Police entered the apartment and took Quintero into custody without further incident.
The adult victim declined medical attention.
After an investigation police charged Quintero with harassment, domestic assault causing injury and criminal mischief.
Quintero was also wanted on an outstanding warrant issued by the Storm Lake Police Department in connection with “Operation Winter Wrap-Up,” charging him with possession of methamphetamine.
Quintero is the 19th arrest connected to “Operation Winter Wrap-Up,” which was an enforcement operation culminating several investigations into the manufacturing, sales and possession of a variety of illegal drugs including methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, marijuana and prescription pills.
Additional suspects are still being sought.
