Truck driven by Sioux Rapids man rolls

On Dec. 16 at 10:16 a.m. Gary Meseck, 59, of Sioux Rapids was driving a 2010 International Truck with a tank east bound on Clay County Road B53 when he entered the curve at 270th Ave.

The right side tires of the vehicle dropped off the should of the road and the vehicle lost control and entered the west ditch rolling over onto its top.

The road was closed until 4 p.m. when the tanker was removed from the ditch by a crane and tow truck.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Dickens and Webb Fire Departments, Spencer Ambulance and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

No injuries were reported and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office believes speed and road conditions contributed to the accident.

The driver was cited for failure to maintain control of the vehicle.

The vehicle received $100,000 worth of damage.
