Big spurt aids Newell-Fonda in win

No. 1 Newell-Fonda used a 22-1 spurt to begin the second half as the Mustangs pulled away to beat North Union 66-41 in a nonconference game last Thursday night at Newell.

The Mustangs held a 13-6 lead after the first quarter. It was 30-26 at halftime, but then Newell-Fonda outscored the Eagles 22-5 in the third quarter to extend its lead to 52-31 heading into the fourth period.

Brady Dicks led the Mustangs with 19 points, five rebounds and four steals. Brady Bohe added 15 points and four rebounds.
