Mustangs are packaging machines
Newell-Fonda independent agriculture students Nancy Medel and Abby Smith came up with the idea to involve their school in a “Meals from the Heartland” packaging project.
Nancy, a senior, had participated in such an event at the State FFA Convention and thought it could happen in Newell.
Meals from the Heartland is a non-profit organization composed of volunteers, based in Urbandale. The school received a $6,000 donation from Monsanto and a $4,000 grant from the Meals from the Heartland organization to package 50,000 meals in just two hours Wednesday morning.
