Babysitter is charged with trying sexual abuse of teen

A babysitter was charged early Saturday with attempting to sexually abuse a teen girl in his care.
On Friday at 11:30 p.m. Storm Lake Police were called to 700 Walnut St. after a report of an assault.
Police met with a 13-year-old female who told police that she had been assaulted by her babysitter, Agwa Oman of Laurens.
Police were told that Oman was babysitting several children between the ages of five and 13 and after putting the children to bed, attempted to sexually assault the 13-year-old.
The child began to yell at which time Oman fled from the residence leaving the children home alone.
A short time later an adult sibling of the children arrived at the residence.
Police searched for Oman and located him at 1 a.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Russell Street.
Police charged him with assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, child endangerment and public intoxication.
He was booked on a $2,000 bond.
The victim did not report any physical injuries and a report was forwarded to the Iowa Department of Human Services.
