Accident leads to forgery charges
On Saturday afternoon police were called to Hy-Vee at 1250 Lake Avenue because of a motor vehicle accident.
Police met with one of the drivers, Carmen Hernandez Hernandez, 52, of Marathon, who provided police with a Minnesota driver’s license which was determined to be fraudulent.
After investigating further police say that they located in the vehicle a paystub with the fraudulent name on it reflecting that Hernandez was working under false identification at a business in Spirit Lake.
Police say that Hernandez was in possession of over $1,500 in cash which was seized by law enforcement.
After an investigation Storm Lake Police arrested Hernandez Hernandez and charged her with forgery and interference with official acts.
She was booked into the county jail on $5,300 bond.
In addition the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have placed a hold on her.
