Man charged with assault causing injury


Storm Lake Police were called to 719 Oneida St. because of an unknown problem Saturday night at 9 p.m.

Police met with a man who told police that at 6:45 p.m. he was allegedly physically assaulted by Nestor Turcios, 30, of Storm Lake, at 223 Kenzy St.

The victim sustained minor injuries to his face during the assault.

At 10 p.m. Saturday police located and arrested Turcios at the Kenzy Street address.

Police charged Turcios with assault causing injury.

He was booked into Buena Vista County Jail on a $1,000 bond.

 

Wanted man arrested


Valentin Deniz-Ramirez, 25, of Storm Lake was arrested Thursday at 6:50 p.m. at 819 West Fifth St.

Ramirez was wanted on a valid Storm Lake Police Department warrant for an OWI.

The warrant stemmed from an Aug. 23 incident when Ramirez was stopped for speeding in the 1400 block of East Lakeshore Dr.

During the investigation police say that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired.

Lab results on Sept. 13 showed a positive screen for marijuana metabolites, at which time a warrant was issued.

Ramirez was transported to  Buena Vista County Jail and booked on a $1,000 bond.

 

Police arrest wanted man


At 12:30 a.m. on Friday Storm Lake Police arrested Henry Castro, 26, at his home at 603 Russell St.

Castro was wanted on a warrant for interference with official acts.        

The warrant was from an incident on Nov. 1 when Storm Lake Police went to 1008 East Milwaukee Apartment 5 in an attempt to serve an arrest warrant.

While there, Castro lied to police about the location of the wanted person, knowing the person to be wanted and present inside the apartment.

Castro then attempted to aid the wanted person in leading the apartment without direction by police.

Castro was booked into the county jail and was held on a $300 bond.

 

Teen assaulted at high school


On Monday afternoon Storm Lake Police were called to Storm Lake High School because of an assault report.

Police were told that a 14-year-old male of Storm Lake physically assaulted another student at the high school by striking him several times.

Police arrested the 14-year-old and charged him with assault.

The juvenile was processed and released to a parent pending a court date.

The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court Authority.

 

Wanted man jailed


On Friday morning at 8 a.m. Storm Lake Police were called to 221 Seneca St. in reference to locating a wanted person.

Police located and arrested Gilbert Palomares, 20, of Storm Lake who was wanted out of Buena Vista County on a warrant charging him with violation of probation in reference to theft.

He was booked into Buena Vista County Jail on a $2,000 bond.

 

Wanted man arrested outside of night club


On Sunday at 12:30 a.m. police on patrol observed a wanted person standing outside of Malarky’s Night Club on Flindt Drive.

Police arrested Allen Unseld, 29, of Spencer who was wanted out of Buena Vista County charging him with contempt of court in reference to going armed with intent, rioting and assault with a weapon.

Unseld was booked into the county jail on an $8,766.22 bond.

 

Traffic stop leads to arrest


Police stopped a vehicle Friday afternoon at 3:10 p.m. near the intersection of East Milwaukee Avenue and Erie Street because of a traffic violation.

After contacting the driver police say the driver provided police with false information to hide the fact she was barred from driving.

The driver was identified as Kelsey Niday, 23, of Storm Lake.

Police arrested Niday and charged her with driving while barred and interference with official acts.

She was booked on a $2,300 bond.

 

Three arrested on public intoxication charges


Storm Lake Police were conducting a bar check at Malarky’s Night Club on Flindt Drive Sunday morning when they observed a disturbance in progress.

Police took several people into custody.

Police arrested Erica Latiker, 27, of Chicago, Ill., and Derrick Bolden, 22, of Cherokee and charged them both with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Both were booked into Buena Vista County Jail on a $600 bond each.

Police further arrested Razelle Tabb, 29, of Storm Lake and charged him with public intoxication.

He was booked on a $300 bond.
