No. 1 Exira/EH-K features stingy defense, explosive quarterback


Newell-Fonda’s order of importance has always been defense. The Mustangs’ next opponent knows a thing or two about the subject.

No. 1-ranked Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton, who the No. 3 Mustangs play in the state semifinals on Thursday at 12:06 p.m. at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, has given up only 118 points in 11 games this season. The Danes are allowing only 10.7 points a game in 8-man football, which is generally more difficult to play defense than the normal 11-man game because there is more space.
