Two boys caught smoking pot in SLHS bathroom
On Tuesday afternoon at 1:23 the Storm Lake Police Department was called to Storm Lake High School because of a drug-related incident.
When police arrived they met with school officials who said that they had located two students smoking marijuana in a school restroom.
Police identified the students as two minor boys, 16 and 15, both from Storm Lake.
During the investigation police seized a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Police charged both juveniles with possession of marijuana and one of the minors was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both juveniles were processed and transported to the Youth Detention Center Facility in Cherokee pending a court date.
The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court Authority.
Sheriff catches fugitive
On Nov. 4 at 11:30 p.m. the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s office received a complaint of a reckless driver traveling north on Highway 71 from Sac County.
Buena Vista County deputies located the suspected vehicle near the Storm Lake truck and trailer on Highway 7.
During a routine investigation the passenger in the vehicle was found to be a wanted fugitive out of California.
Deputies arrested Hector Lopez, 22, of Early who was wanted for parole violation on felony weapons charges.
Lopez was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail and held on bond pending extradition of Lopez back to California.
Lopez was held without incident.
