Bar fighter kicks cop in face, then gets sprayed

A Storm Lake police officer was kicked in the face trying to subdue a Saturday night bar boxer.

During a security check of Malarky’s Night Club early Sunday morning, police were told that there was a fight inside the bar.

Police entered the establishment and observed security personnel holding a person, Luis Gonzalez Nunez, 38, of Storm Lake, on the floor near the dance floor.

Police intervened and upon taking Nunez into custody, police say he fought with police and resisted arrest.

Nunez was removed from the night club by police and before being placed into the police vehicle, kicked an officer in the face while being placed in the back seat of the police car.

Nunez was sprayed with a chemical reagent.

After an investigation police say that before the arrival of police, Nunez assaulted two security staff at the night club.

Storm Lake Police transported Nunez to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center where he was treated for exposure to a chemical reagent.

Nunez was released and transferred by police to the Buena Vista County Jail where he was charged with assault on a peace officer, two counts of assault, interference with official acts, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

He was booked into the county jail on $2,500 cash bond.
