Woman cited for slapping neighbor in bike dispute

On Tuesday at 1:31 a.m. the Storm Lake Police Department was sent to 705C West Ninth St. because of an assault.

Police met with the reporting party who told police that at approximately 1:25 a.m., she was confronted by a neighbor, Helen Heard, 55, of Storm Lake, outside of her residence.

Heard accused the reporting party of stealing her bike.

An argument ensued when Heard allegedly struck the reporting party in the face twice. Heard then left the scene.

Police located Heard at her residence at 605D West Ninth St. and made contact with her.

Heard was arrested without incident and charged with assault. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 bond. No injuries were reported.


Woman jailed after argument with husband

On Sunday at 11:38 p.m. the Storm Lake Police were sent to the 700 block of Superior Street because of a report of a person screaming.

Responding officers were advised that the person residing at 720 Superior St. requested a neighbor call 911.

When police arrived they learned that an argument had occurred between a husband and wife and that during the argument the husband attempted to call 911. The wife allegedly grabbed the phone, damaged it and prevented him from making the 911 call.

Police conducted an investigation and arrested the wife, Tiet Le, 48, of Storm Lake and charged her with obstructing emergency communications.

She was booked on a $300 bond.
