Man allegedly assaults girl, holds her in bedroom
On Saturday afternoon police were sent to 426C West Eighth St. following a report of a sexual assault.
Police say they interviewed several people at the scene and completed a consent search of the residence.
Police met with a 15-year-old who said that on Friday, Oct. 4 at 4:30 a.m. she woke up in her bedroom and Hae Htoo, 25, of Storm Lake was in her bedroom touching her in an inappropriate fashion.
The girl attempted to leave but Htoo reportedly had locked the door and attempted to hold her in the bedroom.
The girl was able to escape and left the room.
After an investigation police arrested Htoo at the residence and charged him with assault with intent to commit sexual abuse and false imprisonment.
He was booked on a $3,000 cash.
The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Centers Against Abuse and Sexual Assault.
Wanted person jailed
Police located a wanted person Thursday morning at 827 C Lake Ave.
Police say they located Dao Vang, 19, of Storm Lake, who was wanted on warrants issued out of Buena Vista County on the charge of failure to appear in court because of domestic assault.
Van was booked into the county jail on a $300 bond.
Man argues with police, later jailed
Storm Lake Police observed a man sitting in a truck on Seneca Street just north of the police station watching the north parking lot of the police station.
Police made contact with Robert Williams, 68, of Storm Lake, who began cursing at officers and shouting over his dissatisfaction at police for investigating a complaint that he parked his vehicles for lengthy periods of time on the street at his residence.
The complaint occurred Wednesday.
As police tried to calm Williams down he reportedly continued to shout and curse at officers.
Williams then attempted to drive away when police told him to stop and shut his vehicle off.
Williams refused at which time police officers reached in the windows of his truck and turned off his engine.
Williams was arrested and resisted officers, but was taken to the ground and subdued.
Williams was charged with disorderly conduct and interference with official acts. He was booked on a $600 bond.
Police find marijuana, drug paraphernalia at residence
On Thursday night the Storm Lake Police Department was sent to 538 Russell St. because of a report of possible drug activity.
Police met with Rodney Gebken, 41, of Storm Lake, who was allegedly under the influence of an illegal drug.
Police located a small amount of marijuana and multiple drug paraphernalia items while at the residence.
Police arrested Gebken and charged him with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was booked on a $1,300 cash bond.
Teens charged with stealing candy from Walmart
On Thursday night police officers were called to Walmart because of a possible theft.
Store staff told police that three patrons had opened a package of candy without paying for it and walked through the store eating it.
After an investigation police arrested Rose Joens, 18, of Galva, and charged her with theft.
Police also arrested a 14-year-old female of Newell and a 17-year-old female from Sac City. Both were charged with theft.
They were all processed and released pending a court date.
Truesdale woman charged with criminal trespass
On Saturday at 12:28 a.m. Storm Lake Police were sent to 815 East First St. because of a disturbance in progress.
Police met with witnesses who said Jessica Paulton, 33, of Truesdale had come to the residence and demanded to see a male subject.
When she was told to leave she reportedly refused and began to shout at people at the residence.
Witnesses stated she was repeatedly told to leave and only did so after the police were called.
Police located Paulton sitting in a car at the scene and arrested her.
She was charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. She was booked on a $600 bond.
Man harasses woman
On Saturday night Storm Lake Police were called because of a report of an adult male harassing a female who was walking near the Super 8 Motel.
Police were told by a woman that she was confronted by an intoxicated man while she was walking near the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Lake Avenue.
The male asked the victim personal questions and grabbed her arm.
Police located the suspect walking in the 800 block of Lake Avenue and identifided him as Martin Guillen, 23, of Storm Lake.
Police took Guillen into custody when he allegedly resisted officers and was subdued.
Storm Lake Police charged Guillen with public intoxication, assault, harassment and interference with official acts.
He was booked on a $2,900 bond.
No injuries were reported.
