Marijuana found in traffic stop
On Wednesday at 2 a.m. a Storm Lake Police Officer stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of West Fourth Street for a traffic violation.
The driver, Larry Morataya, 26, of Storm Lake, had a small amount of marijuana in his possession, which was seized by officers.
After an investigation, police arrested Morataya and charged him with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended and no insurance.
Morataya was booked in the Buena Vista County Jail on a $1,300 bond.
Convicted Texas felon turns himself in to SL police
A wanted person surrendered himself at the Storm Lake Police Department on Tuesday.
Alberto Sosa, 22, of Storm Lake, had a warrant out from the Storm Lake Police Department charging him with possession of a firearm.
The warrant stemmed from an incident which occurred on Aug. 11 where a fight at 517 Otsego St. occurred.
Police conducted a search warrant of the address and allegedly seized a rifle from Sosa’s bedroom.
Police confirmed that Sosa was a convicted felon out of Texas on the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as a juvenile in 2007.
Storm Lake Police booked Sosa on a $5,000 bond.
Duo jailed after traffic stop
On Monday at 8:30 p.m. police stopped a vehicle near the intersection of East Lakeshore Drive and Gilbert Road for a traffic offense.
Police say they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
The occupants were Levi Moore, 22, and Lindsey Holm, 26, both of Fort Dodge.
Police found a small amount of marijuana as well as 39 tablets of a prescription drug (Fluoxetine) that was not associated with a required prescription.
Police arrested Moore and charged him with possession of a controlled substance, speeding and no insurance.
He was booked on a $1,000 bond.
Holm was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a prescription drug. She was booked on a $2,000 bond.
