Man struggles with police, later taken to hospital

On Tuesday at 1:38 p.m. Storm Lake Police responded to a call at 305 East 10th St. because of a wanted person.

Police observed Daniel Zermeno, 56, of Storm Lake, who was wanted by the Storm Lake Police Department in connection with the alleged ongoing harassment and threats he had made towards his ex-wife and her current husband.

As police made contact with Zermeno to take him into custody he allegedly resisted and was subdued after being taken to the ground.

Zermeno received minor injuries during his struggle with police. He was transported to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.

He was then transported to the county jail and charged with stalking and interference with official acts. He was booked into the county jail on a $2,300 bond.


Wanted man jailed

On Aug. 29 at 2:45 p.m. police responded to 1011 Witter St. because of a wanted person.

After arriving police located and arrested Joshua Hagen, 20, of Storm Lake, who was wanted out of O’Brien County on the charge of contempt of court reference failure to pay fines. He was booked on a $675 bond.


SL man arrested

On Aug. 29 at 5:20 p.m. police were sent to 721 West Ninth St. because of a wanted person.

Police arrested Roger Crawford, 58, of Storm Lake, who was wanted on a warrant charging him with probation violation because of his public intoxication (third offense). He was booked on a $2,000 bond.


Woman goes armed with knife

On Aug. 29 at 8:45 p.m. police were sent to 1028 North Oneida St. because of a domestic disturbance involving a woman armed with a knife.

On arrival, police encountered a female at the residence and took her into custody identifying her as Marisol Escamilla-Pearson, 43, of Storm Lake.

Police were told by Pearson’s husband that she became angry at him and began destroying a computer and other items in the apartment with a hammer.

She then armed herself with a knife and used it in a way that threatened the husband.

Pearson was charged with domestic assault while displaying a weapon and was booked and held without bond.

No injuries were reported.


Man jailed for stealing iPad

On Monday night police took a report of a found item at 300 West Ninth St.

On arrival police were told that an iPad had been found lying in a yard. Police examined the iPad and determined that it belonged to St. Mary’s School.

On Tuesday police made contact with St. Mary’s school officials and determined the iPad had been taken from the school in April of this year.

Police collected information off the iPad and identified Bidong Yak, 18, of Storm Lake.

Police arrested Yak and charged him with theft. Yak was booked into BV County Jail on a $1,000 bond.
