Marijuana found in traffic stop
On Wednesday at 8:26 p.m. a police officer stopped a vehicle near East Third St. and Oneida St. for a traffic violation.
After speaking with Oscar Valle, 21, of Storm Lake and two other occupants, police suspected that illegal drugs were in the vehicle.
The Storm Lake Police Department K9 Unit responded to the scene and conducted an external search of the vehicle. Police say the K9 alerted that illegal drugs were present. Police searched the vehicle and located a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Police arrested Valle and charged him with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was booked into Buena Vista County Jail on a $1,000 bond. The two other passengers in the vehicle were not charged.

San Juan Castro, 29, of Sioux Rapids, was arrested Sunday on Highway 71 and 485th Street and charged with possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, driving while revoked and failure to file SR-22 insurance.
A Clay County Deputy stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation and after a check of Castro’s driver’s license showed he was required to have an ignition interlock device installed on his vehicle.
The vehicle Castro was driving did not have an interlock installed. Castro’s license was revoked for failure to have the device.
A female passenger, Amber Kay Scott, had an active warrant out of O’Brien County and was taken into custody.
Scott was transported to the O’Brien County line and released to an O’Brien County Deputy.
Marijuana was found in the car along with drug paraphernalia. Castro was arrested and taken to Buena Vista County Jail to be held for Clay County.
