‘Idol’ passed on Altan, but she never gives up

Esly Ovando of Alta didn’t advance in her audition for American Idol last Sunday, but it wasn’t her first try for stardom, nor will it be her last.

The 2013 Alta-Aurelia High School graduate was one of 4,000 who turned out for the tryouts in Omaha. She and a friend arrived at the CenturyLink Center Saturday at 3 a.m. to wait in line, and that was only to register – not sing.
