Police find illegal drugs in SL man’s vehicle

Drugs believed to be methamphetamine

Two men were pulled over and arrested Sunday morning at 12:15 a.m. on the 400 block of Cayuga Street.

Sengprachanh Thabansouk, 32, of Storm Lake, had  a suspended Iowa driver’s license. During the traffic stop, the Storm Lake Police Department’s K9 Unit searched the exterior of Thabansouk’s vehicle and reported that illegal drugs were present in the vehicle.

After police searched the vehicle, they located a small baggie containing a white crystalline residue believed to be methamphetamine. The bag and its contents were seized and will be sent to the Iowa DCI Laboratory for analysis.

The passenger in the vehicle, Christopher Yahola, 29, of Storm Lake, was wanted out of Indiana on a felony warrant charging him with non-payment of child support.

Police arrested Thabansouk and charged him with driving while suspended and booked him on a $300 bond.

Yahola was arrested on the outstanding Indiana warrant and was booked on a $46,000 bond. He is awaiting extradition back to Indiana. Additional charges are pending.
