SL stunned by Spencer in first round of districts

There are certainly a lot of ways to score runs without getting a base hit.

No one knows that more than Spencer. The Tigers scored three runs without the benefit of a hit as they took advantage of seven walks, two hit batters and four errors to stun No. 9-ranked Storm Lake 3-0 in the first round of the Class 3A district tournament last Friday night at Spencer.

The Tornadoes had beaten the Tigers in both regular season meetings earlier this year.

Spencer did not get its first hit of the game until a leadoff single by Matt Klemme in the seventh inning.
