Pickup truck crashes near KFC, 2 men later arrested
Two men were arrested Tuesday night in the area of 805 Flindt Dr. after a report of a green pickup truck which had driven off the curb and gotten high centered.
The Chevrolet pickup truck was stuck between Kentucky Fried Chicken and Little Vientiane.
When police arrived on the scene witnesses told them that three males exited the truck and fled.
At 10:45 p.m. police located two occupants of the vehicle walking south on Flindt Drive. Police were unable to determine who was driving the vehicle but say both men were intoxicated.
Police arrested Richard Porter, 29, of Bettendorf and Aaron Osbun, 38, of Fort Wayne, Ind. Both were charged with public intoxication and were booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 cash bond each.
Assault at night club
On Sunday morning at Malarky’s Night Club police were called to investigate an assault inside the club.
Police were told by the victim that he had been assaulted and pointed out the suspect walking northbound on Park Street.
When police attempted to contact the suspect, who was identified as Gilpatrick Panuel, 32, of Austin, Minn., he fled on foot.
Police took Panuel into custody in the 1300 block of Park Street.
Once police transported Panuel to the Buena Vista County Jail he allegedly became resistive and attempted to strike the arresting officer.
Panuel was charged with assault, interference with official acts and public intoxication. He was held on $900 cash bond.
Eight underage drinkers charged
On Saturday night police were sent to 1013 Mae St. because of a report of an underage drinking party.
Once on the scene police found several individuals who were underage and had been consuming alcohol.
Police charged the following with possession of alcohol:
• Albert Quintana, 19, of Storm Lake
• Demetrius Tribble, 20, of Storm Lake
• James Pathaem, 20, of Storm Lake
• Trevor Gustafson, 19, of Storm Lake
• Damien Fisher, 20, of Storm Lake
• Derek Conklin, 20, of Storm Lake
• Nyakim Dak, 20, of Storm Lake
• Kevon Spratt, 20, of Cherokee
Everyone was cited and released pending a court date.
Storm Lake woman charged with OWI after traffic stop
On Friday night a Storm Lake Police Officer stopped a vehicle at the 300 block of West Seventh St. after it was driving in an erratic manner.
Police made contact with the driver, Isabella Thompson, 50, of Storm Lake.
Police say Thompson was intoxicated and arrested her. Thompson was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail where she allegedly became belligerent and attempted to assault an officer.
Thompson was subdued and charged with an OWI and interference with official acts. She was held on a $1,300 cash bond.
