Man charged with beating car

On Sunday at 1:38 a.m. police were sent to 1017 Oak Lane because an ex-husband was outside of the residence acting in a violent manner.

Once officers were on the scene police identified the man as Si Fang, 22, of Storm Lake. Fang fled the scene in a vehicle but as he was leaving he damaged a vehicle, breaking out the vehicle’s windows and kicking the side of the vehicle causing damage.

Police stopped Fang at the 100 block of West Milwaukee where Fang was taken into custody.

Police say Fang was intoxicated and police arrested him.

Fang was charged with an OWI, criminal mischief, driving while suspended and no SR insurance.

Fang was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $7,600 cash bond.

Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,000.


Woman charged with forgery

Storm Lake Police arrested Raquel Guerra, 23, of Storm Lake on Wednesday, July 10 after determining Guerra was not a US citizen.

Guerra was stopped at the 1400 block of Lake Avenue and during the traffic stop police say Guerra was not a US citizen and had no driver’s license. Guerra was wearing a McDonald’s uniform and after an investigation police say Guerra was employed at the business under the name Jennifer Rios.

Police charged Guerra with forgery and was booked in the Buena Vista County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond.


Hit and run lands Storm Lake woman in jail

On Thursday, July 11 police responded to a hit and run accident at the 700 block of Seneca Street.

Once police arrived on the scene witnesses told police that a juvenile male and his mother had been in an argument.                  

When the mother, Esmeralda Vasquez-Espinoza, 33, of Storm Lake, attempted to drive away and go confront a former girlfriend of the male, the male attempted to stop his mother.

The side of the mother’s vehicle hit the juvenile, spinning him and knocking him to the ground. The mother then departed in the vehicle.

Police then broadcasted a description of the vehicle and stopped it just west of Storm Lake on Highway 7.

Police charged Vasquez-Espinoza with no drivers license and leaving the scene of an accident. She was booked on a $1,300 cash bond.

The juvenile male was treated at the scene by paramedics but was not transported to the medical center.


Teen charged with forgery

Storm Lake Police have arrested a minor for forgery and theft from the Storm Lake Bakery.

Police say that a payroll check was issued by the bakery in March of 2013 and had been altered and cashed at Central Bank.

The minor was released to a parent pending a court date.


Large knife found in Early man’s car

On July 14 a Storm Lake Police Officer pulled over James Lenhart, 26, of Early, on the 1700 block of Lake Avenue.

After contacting the driver police say Lenhart was driving with a suspended license and that Lenhart had a large hunting knife with a 10’’ blade under his car seat.

The knife was to defend himself from potential enemies he had made at his place of employment.

Police charged Lenhart with carrying weapons and driving while suspended.

He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $2,000 bond.
